S1 award votes end Friday

Sportsone award show host, RJRGThe voting for the 2016 Sportsone Sportsman of the Year Award closes midnight Friday.

The month-long online, phone in and email votes have garnered colossal response and it builds by the hour.

The total votes from these three platforms will determine the fate of nominees, Javid Khan, Irshad Iqbal and Ronald Chaudhary as this website's most prestigious gong to be announced during the live broadcast of the Top 100 countdown of 2016 show on December 31st.

Awards coordinator and the double show host, Riten Gosai said the following for the award has quadrupled since its humble beginning 5 years ago.

Gosai said the total votes for 2016 award is expected to surpass the accumulated 5000 mark for the same period last year.

"Unlike previous years' where a panel of judges decided the winner, this year in a historic process Sportsone media group decided to include the fans to choose their favourite and help them win the award".

"I'm humbled by the votes. There's huge interest for the Sportsone Sportsman of the Year Award because of the inclusion of the fans.This has certainly spiraled up the voter count", he said.

Gosai said the other reason is they're the only Fijian sports media in Canada that keeps you connected 24/7 and 365 days with sporting news.
